I made this trailer for the book 'De Hills' by Matias Faldbakken.
This book is set in modern times, in an old European restaurant and hotel. A place that is stuck in the past. Grand, old, old fashioned and strict. We view the regular guests through the eyes of a very observant waiter, who has worked there all his life. His life is built on routine, propriety, rituals and rules. But when a young woman joins the regular guests, his routine breaks, and everything crumbles down as all the usual rules stop applying.
For this film I decided to display one of the waiters duties, that he describes very precisely in the book. The setting of the table, which is done very precisely. But then the girl, the cat on the cover, waltzes all over it, destroying the so carefully set plating.
